Just looking for ideas on some cork poppers and sliders. What are your favorites? I have prepped a dozen or so bodies with Mustad 37190 stinger hooks and thought I’d get a little input from you folks before I finish them off. Thanks, David
some good looking poppers here
Match the hatch, NW Alabama that probably means frogs, shad, bream colors. I paint a good percentage of popper bodies in frog colors, but I know solid white works well too (shad?).
Thanks, Guys, Normand the sites you referenced were very helpful, especially Google images. Why didn’t I think of that? I didnt even think of SE flyfishers site either but when I tried it all of their images wanted me to use Photobucket Pro Said I had inadequate bandwidth, but with Google’s 133,000 images I found more than enough thought provoking finishing touches to try on many more poppers. Unk, Thank you for the match-the-hatch idea. I think I will try the wounded minner look with a slider .
Black, chartreuse, and hot orange have always been my go-tos, as far as sliders go.
That said, be creative.

Crease flies work pretty good. That might be something different to try?
Tjanks for the input, I am getting enough ideas to keep me busy for a while, David
My favorite poppers are my Mini Crease Flies. Panfish tear them up.
For bass, my favorite is the regular size Crease Fly
I tie them both in lots of different color schemes.
Of course, neither is made of cork, but the foam works so much better. It ‘gives’, and feels alive when fish bite it, and they don’t spit it out so quick.

Normand, Just wondering if that one was a popper or a “Bobber”. Is it made of foam, balsa, or of “Sponge”?
I like fishing the Olsen Deciever a spun deer-hair version of the “Bass oreno” plug.
Hook: Daiichi 2461, size 4/0 to 1/0.
Thread: Red Flymaster 210.
Under-tail Section: White buck tail.,
Middle-tail Section: three strands of pearl flashabou
Top Tail Section: 2 White hen hackle (other option: white blood marabou)
Body (rear half): White belly deer-hair, spun (three bundles of deerhair).
Body (front half): Red belly deer-hair, spun (two bundles of deerhair).
Hackle: Red saddle hackle, wrapped in front of head (3 wraps).
Note Whip Finish after spinning the two bundles of red deer-hair, remove fly from vise and flatten the bottom of the fly to expose hook, then trim deer hair around the tail area, covering tail material with finger and thumb, then trim remainer of body straigth circular taper around hook shank (except the bottom).
Instert the hook back in the vise, attach the butt section Red saddle hackle to the hook, just behind the hooks eye, then whip finsh again.
