I’m thinking of heading up to Pittsburg, NH to fish the trophy section of the Conn River in late Sept. Does anyone know what river flows I should be looking for as ideal? Also, any thoughts of any sections to check out. I’ve not been there before. Any good websites on the area?
J, one area to consider is the stretch of the Conn between 2nd and 1st lake. May have to do some bushwacking to get in their but it holds some nice pre-spawn Brookies. Fish Greens Point at the inlet to 1st lake also, generally some decent salmon fishing there in the fall.
Be advised that this area can get a bit crowded during this time of the year. It’s a mix of “better” fishing, fall foliage, beginnings of deer season, moose season. River sections can get a bit crowded.
If your looking for a guide, try and get Bill Bernhardt from Lopstick. He’s a great guy, and he’ll work hard for you to put you on fish.
If you’re in the area (it’s about 1 1/2 hour south), don’t miss fly fishing in the Mount Washington Valley area. Less crowds, more to do, and wild brookies galore!
