What waterproof markers are you guys using to color white rubber legs when appropriate colors aren’t available in the stores? I went to AC Moore and bought a green marker for coloring fabrics thinking that this would do the trick on rubber but no dice. thanks
sharpie. prismacolor, pantone any waterproof marker will work.
I agree with what normand said, but some seem to fade more then others.
You’ll just have to buy one or two, and experiment, the investement is minimal.
OH YA, If you have kids, or a wife who is artsy hide them!

I have used permanent ink markers made for art work, such as ‘prismacolor’ ‘ArtDesign’ and ‘sharpie’. Sometimes these colors will react with the rubber and fade or change hues. What looked like black last night becomes an olive green by morning. Markers also seem to take a long time to dry, sometimes they are still sticky and the color comes off in my hands a day later.
I find the markers are OK for a spot of color, but to change the base color of the rubber I prefer to use dye. RIT dye or Kool-Aid seems to work well. I get lots of rubber strands from old bungee cords and dye them in batches as I dye other materials. The resulting colors are a little muted, I can’t seem to get the bright yellow or reds I see on the commercial products.
