Colorado Springs in August?

Can anyone give me the skinny on fishing around Colorado Springs, CO during the second week of Aug? Not asking for secret spots, but I know nothing of the area and will be visiting family at that time. Have no problems driving an hour or two if necessary.

Flies to use, general access points, etc would be wonderful.

Thanks,

mike

Easiest, most well known water would be the South Platte. You could fish in South Park below Spinney Mtn. reservoir, 11-mile canyon below 11-mile dam, in Cheesman canyon below Cheesman Dam (a little bit of a hike), or near the town of Deckers.

You could also fish the Arkansas, Gunnison, or even the Taylor or Fryingpan if you drove a little further. Those would just be some of the highlights. So many great options in CO.

Go to bluequillangler.com the click on “Pat Dorsey’s Corner” then look at his stream reports. Probably the best anywhere on eastern slope fishing.
