I have modified the Clyde and Tummel sections on my site, with some extra
info and flies.

Donsld,
What a treasue trove on information your site is. Those Clyde and Tummel dressings are superb. Thanks for sharing with us.
For those who haven’t tried them, these flies work just as well on this side of the pond.

Very nice indeed. I wonder if by 1971 that the Clyde style flies were being tied with the full body, rather than 1/2 body from Skues’ time, simply because full bodies were more common elsewhere and the local idiosyncracies were fading? I like the idea of the short bodies as a way of tying a smaller fly on a larger hook, which removes the need to add weight in the form of lead wraps or a bead. One can keep the fly sparse, and neat, and still get it a bit lower in the water column. Regardless, like REE, I can vouch for these flies on this side of the world as well!

[b]The modern versions on the Varivas hooks are very satisfying to tie and do look good.
I normally don’t like beads on wet flies but I had these very small 150 mm which is
smaller than a 1/16th bead, and are not too obtrusive. The Varivas 2200 BL is a hook with quite light wire, so, I thought that maybe a little weight might be required sometimes.
I am hoping to try them on the Tenkara tackle.
