I was about to buy me a pair of Cabellas guide pro waders, when I found a pair of Cloudveil 8x gortex waders for $219. This seems like a great price for gortex. So good it has me worried. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with Cloudveil waders?
Hello:
I have been fly fishing about 30 years and have worn Simms waders most of that time. My trusty Pro Guides finally wore out so I started looking for some new waders. I had heard of Cloudveil but knew little about them. After I some research on their 8x pros I decided to buy a pair. So far I have been very happy with them. They have been very durable and I like the way they fit better than my old Simms. They are not as baggy as Simms and have had no problems with leaks. They are very comfortable wading, walking for stream fishing and on a recent trip I tubed 13 hrs. in two days on one of favorite lakes and the 8xs were great. I think I am a Cloudveil convert.
I have been wearing them (Cloudveil) for about 4 years. My first 3 pair all leaked. They replaced them at no charge for me each time so the customer service was very good.
They then went to a newer version, maybe differenct manufacturer/ factory/ or technique. The pair that I have now (for 2 seasons) and I have had no problem with them since. They are comfortable to wear.
Would I buy them again?? I don’t know. Might go back to Simms.
