Claudes Halfback Muddler (variation) SBS

A few minor changes to the original CS Muddler. Probably more of a fullback than a halfback.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Veevus 8/0 tan
tail - deer hair
rib - medium tinsel pearl
body - Ice Dub hare?s ear
shellback/collar/head - deer hair

Part 1

Mash barb, start thread; wrap to bend

Clean, stack, measure (gap width) a clump of deer hair; tie in

Wrap forward a few turns over the butts; tie in rib

Dub thread, dub behind butts

Pull butts up and dub in front to 3/4 mark

Rib body; tie off/trim

Part 2

Pull deer hair butts forward, give a slight twist, then tie down/trim

Standard bullethead is perfectly acceptable but I prefer the look Ryan Houston gets so I?ll attempt to show the sequence he uses

Clean, stack, measure (tips to bend) a clump of deer hair

Tie in with 2 soft loops, allowing hair to encircle shank

Trim butts even with hook eye

Tighten thread and let it spin

Take a wrap or two thru the head, half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim head

Regards,
Scott

I like the look you chose, too, Scott. It will push some water and I like that idea.
