Classic (only) Streamer Swap- SHIPPED!!!

I was thinking of hosting my first swap before I graduate and join the workforce, and after a quick search it seems like the last classics only streamer swap was in 2004.
So here it goes:
Classics Only Streamer Swap.
Any Streamer but must be a classic…defined as something from way back when, Clousers, Wooly Buggers etc are NOT CLASSICS (for this swap). Classics would include, Mary Orvis Marbury Flies, Carrie Stevens, Rangeley Style, will even include Bergman or Classic Atlantic Salmon Conversions. If you are unsure just ask me.
Anyone can join, even if this will be your first time tying a classic streamer, I hope people will try them out, I started tying them a short while ago, they are a lot of fun, beautiful and still catch fish. The beauty of these classic is that they don’t generally need very fancy materials.:
We will keep this to 12 tiers including myself.
Close Date will Be March 11 Flies Due by May 1.

Royal Coachman.

Okay here I go again. I would like to tie the Oriole which is a Mary Orvis Marbury Pattern

Tail: Mixed Black & White
Body: Black Floss or Wool
Rib: Gold Tinsel
Hackle: Large Black
Wing: Bright Yellow

Thats all I could find on it but Im sure they are pretty. Thanks for the swap .

After looking into the McNally Magnum, I can see it was developed in 1950…We can make that the cutoff date, but still NO Buggers, thunder creeks, clousers etc… You’re in!!! Thanks for joining.
Kayakfish, you’re in as well…
Can’t wait to see everyone’s flies!!!

The Oriole’s are flying to you tommrrow, they were lots of fun to tie, hope to see some different Classics soon.

Come on People!
This the perfect opportunity to tie and get some beautiful flies!!!

all right, i’ll play…
you know i’ll have to do C.S. pattern
Don’s Delight

thanks Don

Excellent Don you are in!
Ok we are starting to fill this one up!!

According to http://www.flyanglersonline.com/feature … rt129.html the Black Nose Dace predates 1950 as it as first seen in a 1947 description in Art’s Flick’s Streamside Guide.

If the BND is ok, I’ll submit it.

Fly_Flinger - who’s glad to be tying something larger than #18

fly_flinger- cant argue with the research! Glad to have you in on this one, BND it is.
Ok Tiers bring it on. Classic Streamers for everyone.

I just wanted to see what kind of hook size everyone was going to tie. i don’t want to throw in a monster trolling fly if everyone else is doing size 10 casting streamers.

an get in on this with a Mickey Finn? Ji,.[/i]

sure lakeerie welcome aboard!

Corrrect my last message with too many errors

Can I get in on this with a Mickey Finn? Jim.

Even with your name spelled right the answer is still yes

trouthunter - mine will be casting size - #8 or so… if it matters

I have never done a swap before and would like to join wondering if the Garry Dog salmon streamer would be ok. Thanks

I’d like in on this one as well and will also do an Atlantic Salmon streamer which is a classic and doubles as a great trout streamer as well, plus, they are pretty as hell to tie and fish. Gonna go with a Magog Smelt on a #2 3665A. Just my opinion but a #8 “casting” streamer is a wet fly
Salmon Chaser

Ok you are both in! Excellent.
Now I am partial to big streamers as well, but to each his own…
