Hey, good to hear your voice Skeet !
Cheers,
MontanaMoose
Dare I bring up the points that:
It’s not Christmas yet.
We don’t have any Christmas banner.
We don’t call it xmas, we call it Christmas.
What the heck are you talking about?
I vote we start the Christmas season at 6 pm on the 24th and end it by 3 am on the 26th. I really really get tired of decorations and music everywhere I go, and that it starts, now, after Halloween.
Bah Humbug.
Dennis
Thank You JC - It always needs to be said!
We put this in our yard this year:
It’s called a Yard Card. I took the photo and edited it myself. Although I do object to the over commercialization of Christmas, it is never too early or too late to say MERRY CHRISTMAS! Carrying the love and goodwill of He, The Prince of Peace, who was born on Christmas Day, through all of your days is a good thing.
To the Administration: If this post offends please delete it. As a Christian I am tolerant and do not take such things personally.
Oh, and since we are on the subject, this is about the Twelve Days of Christmas:
Tonight was Tori’s pre school Christmas program. Wanna bet who “Mary” is?
Her teacher told me that even though she (the teacher) forgot to bring the manger out, “Mary” knew where to place Baby Jesus. Good job!!
Sorry for the picture quality, but couldn’t get very close & many pics being taken from same area.
Mike
Mike,
That is just so precious! Thanks grampaw. Now I only have one question. Where is “Mary’s” fly rod?
Well, as you can see, Joseph had the staff…her fly rod is in the tube in Grandpa’s closet with his rods!
Mike
Good afternoon,
“I vote we start the Christmas season at 6 pm on the 24th and end it by 3 am on the 26th. I really really get tired of decorations and music everywhere I go, and that it starts, now, after Halloween.”
An idea,
why not have Christmas every day of the year,
where people are kind to other people,
where people care about other people,
where people share with other people…
umm, an impossible dream.
Kind regards,
UB

Uncle Barry,
I am with you on this! Not an impossible dream as long as we keep the Christmas spirit alive in our hearts throughout the year.
Here is a little teaser to my Christmas Decoration lineup. There will be more to follow later:

Xmas Abbreviation
Claim: 'Xmas' is a modern, disrespectful abbreviation of the word 'Christmas.'
Status: False.
Origins: The abbreviation of ‘Xmas’ for ‘Christmas’ is neither modern nor disrespectful. The notion that it is a new and vulgar representation of the word ‘Christmas’ seems to stem from the erroneous
belief that the letter ‘X’ is used to stand for the word ‘Christ’ because of its resemblance to a cross, or that the abbreviation was deliberately concocted “to take the ‘Christ’ out of Christmas.” Actually, this usage is nearly as old as Christianity itself, and its origins lie in the fact that the first letter in the Greek word for ‘Christ’ is ‘chi,’ and the Greek letter ‘chi’ is represented by a symbol similar to the letter ‘X’ in the modern Roman alphabet. Hence ‘Xmas’ is indeed perfectly legitimate abbreviation for the word ‘Christmas’ (just as ‘Xian’ is also sometimes used as an abbreviation of the word ‘Christian’).
None of this means that Christians (and others) aren’t justified in feeling slighted when people write ‘Xmas’ rather than ‘Christmas,’ but the point is that the abbreviation was not created specifically for the purpose of demeaning Christ, Christians, Christianity, or Christmas — it’s a very old artifact of a very different language.

“May the blessing on X shine upon you all your days and give you piece.” Nope, just does not work for me. Think I like it the other way. JC

This is playing around here, not sure where else. lasts about 15 seconds on the screen. We Knights have had very positive comments from every religion. I haven’t heard of any negative sofar.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
PASS IT ON!!!
JC
Thanks for the definition. My mom always got upset when she saw Xmas. Some years before her passing, I tried to enlighten her with what you posted here. That was like talking to a brick wall. She told me if I ever used Xmas I would be banned from her house.
Merry Christmas!
Dave
This has nothing to do with what we are talking about, but our Music Director and former Youth Pastor put this together last year.
Uncle Barry, I can do all of that without incessant music, commercialism, ritual, and obligatory family gatherings. I just feel that people who do not wish to participate in rampant holiday-ness should not be subjected to it in every business establishment, office, streetcorner, etc. for several weeks out of the year. And even if you limit it to the religious aspects of the holiday, not everyone is a member of that religion and should be free to do as they wish, even if it means ignoring the holiday.
Great photos everyone. Thanks for showing them to us all. Mike…yours nearly brought tears of joy…how I miss those days when my kids were that young.
As for Xmas…well, it used to offend me also. Til I discovered what it really meant, I thought it was xing out Christ. Then I learned this… I X O Y E Often seen inside the Christian fish symbol, is the hebrew letters that, respectively, stand for …
I…Jesus X…Christ O…Son Y…God E…Savior Or all together…
Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU, AND GOD BLESS YOU IN THE NEW YEAR…ModocDan
I din’t know that modoc, but often wondered…thank you for posting and
Cheerful Christmas !
MontanaMoose
ModocDan,
Yeah, I just love the little ones at this time of year…I am so proud of my Grandchildren AND their parents, who have stressed the REAL meaning of Christmas.
We can sure learn a lot from Children, can’t we?
