Christmas shop Sears

Sears - Christmas shopping this year.

It’s amazing when you think of how long the war has lasted and Sears hasn’t withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?

How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up for active duty.

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.

I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears at least once, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement & feedback it well deserves.

Pass it on.

I decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service Department:

I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it’s cheaper at that store.

This is their answer to my e-mail:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.

Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!!

fyi: OSH is also Sears

Too Cool. Hat’s off to Sears. Thanks for the info Steve.

Steve,

Three cheers for Sears!!!

Best regards, Dave S.

I will be spending some of my Christmas dollars at Sears this year.

This actually goes back to 2003, and is true according to snopes.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/sears.asp

It is true because Sears action speaks for itself !

Snopes is not always legit… just saying

I wish they sold Fly Fishing gear…

They use to…

In fact I have a Wright & McGill my Dad got at Sears

I don’t know if they follow the same policies but Sears and KMart are now the same company.

This really rings home, my last Army National Guard Unit, 1/185 Attack Aviation Bde., is deploying 150 men (and possibly some women) for the second time in 4 years going back to Iraq. Makes me feel a little guilty in 23 years I was never activate out of the state.

Please, you have no need to feel guilty. You served. That’s more than enough. Rosie the Riveter never left the states either, and look what she made possible. Those people who stayed behind and kept the family together while their spouse was deployed also served.
Thank you for your service.

sorry, what’s “OSH”?

OSH is Orchard Supply Hardware, a California chain of hardware stores.

Uncle Jesse,
I agree with Joe on this. Without your service we would not have won the Cold War.

I agree. Even though you were never called up, you could have been at any time during those 23 years. That’s just the luck of the draw.

Uncle Jesse,

You owe NO ONE! Do NOT feel one ounce of regret!! You did exactly what was asked of you. 23 years!! Commendable sir. And remember - your still serving and always will be, it’s the nature of the beast. As you can see, we (your friends) will not allow you to get down on yourself. That’s the way WE roll!!!

Respectfully yours, Dave S.

I am glad to learn that Sears is helping our service men and women this way. Wal-Mart has had this policy in place for a number of years and even includes when they attend summer camp or training sessions. Our large corporations do not get enough credit for the good they quietly do and the way they do “the right thing”.

Good for Sears.
And as for Snopes…read around. Not what it’s cracked up to be…or is it?

BBW good advice thanks!

I really shouldn’t be such a cynic about Snopes just seems many rely on it like the site is almighty…

Heck maybe it is  Think I will give it the benefit and use it with some good ole common sense… read around , you bet!

Being cyncial is not my nature, but I have been well trained to do so. For political rumors www.factcheck.org seems to be a fair minded website looking to tell the truth. Snopes and Truthorfiction.com seem to have more of the more outlandish stuff on them.

Be skepticial and you will be pleasantly surprised from time to time. Just don’t let people know you are skeptical of them or they will seem to work to achieve your expectations.

to Sears.

Purchased a couple of Christmas presents there Sunday.
The young man who waited on us was excellent in his demeanor and product knowledge.
