Christmas fly challange

Here is an Idea for a Christmas challange if any is to tye a Christmas fly. the object is to the a fly that repersents Christmas, I am thinking of just posting pic of the flys, so let see what we all can come up with, if there is enough interest maybe we could get JC & LF and Ronn Lucas interested in Judging our work. Now Remember this is just an Idea at this time. Post your name on this thread if interested.

Is there a target date/deadline, or should we just start posting photos when a fly is finished?

This s/b interesting - I just finished a beginner’s class last week!

let say the time limit is 12-24-2007, you all know this is for fun.

like this…christmas midge

Count me in too. I’ve got some (creative?) ideas in my head.
I’ll squeeze in a couple of ties in between shopping, decorating and tending to the boy’s. One question, religious or secular? Just kidding  Will post pictures soon.
Tom.

been tying a gaudy thing for another project. if i can find some green feathers it will be perfect.

great idea to post pictures too–kind of celebrates the state of the USPS at this time of year!

My first thought was a “Christmas fly” should be a novelty thing, and not necessarily a fish catcher, so that’s why I did what I did. I do have some other ideas for a Christmas fly that I might still try. If anything this got me back at the tying bench, something I haven’t done much of the last few months.

My Candy Cane Fly:

And Santa Fly:

Awesome candycane and incredible santa!! I challenge someone to go for the entire manger scene, including cows and camels!! separate flies, of course. That would look cool on the mantel.

Here is my first attempt at a Christmas fly:

Looks weird and doesn’t exactly match, but it is my second Freestyle Salmon fly and I like it. Each material evokes a certain memory, emotion, or object attached to the Christmas Holiday.

Hope you like it, nen-bran

Nen-bran,
Sweet looking fly. Mine should look so neat.
Beautiful photography also.
Tom.

Happy Holidays!

No pic Ben. Did you use Img?

nen-bran
