I was out in my float tube yesterday paddling away and having a blast with the bass!
Last year I bought a pair of the Chota Kick Boat Booties, (say that three times fast), and I have to tell you, these are THE BEST wading shoes I have ever used for float-tubing! They are PERFECT for use with fins, fit great with the strap system and feel like you have bedroom slippers on. AND, because they are so light, I swear I am less fatigued from all the finning.
Buying them was one of the best float tube accessory purchases I have made to date. I heartily recommend them to all the “kickers” out there!
I wear a size 10.5 D street shoe. I normally buy size 12 in NORMAL wading shoes to accommodate heavier socks and shrinkage. For example my Chota STL’s are size 12 and the fit is fine.
BUT - I bought the Kick Boot Booties in size 11 because of the neoprene material they are made of and the fact that I didn’t want a sloppy fit with flippers. The fit for me is perfect with neoprene booties on my waders and a light sock.
I doubt you’ll find them in stock at most places to try on so you may have to pick a size, order them and hope for the best. Another option is looking for the Chota Posi-Loc Low Top Bootie which is a shoe for paddling at your local kayak-type shop. It is very similar to the Kick Boot Bootie I think the fit should be the same.
I use Chota ‘Flats’ booties, which may be the same thing. They’re great. I got an extra pair and glued felt to the bottom of them for wading the streams around here. I love the velcro closures, much easier to handle than laces when wet.
