A family member bought me some Med. Blue Chenille. My question is what flies have you tied with it, or have seen using it. I have looked in many places and have not found any patterns using it. Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks Puff

Tie a “Greenie” in blue! JGW
I was thinking along those lines. The Bugger, Green Weenie,Leprechaun. Most of these I have seen in most colos but not Blue.
I don’t know your game, but when I was spin fishing for bass purple and blue worms were the most deadly colors. One of the reasons for my suggestion. JGW
Yes, I do alot of warm water fishing ie.Bass SM/LM, panfish, perch.
I hope to fish for more trout this year.
Thanks for the input!
Somewhere, someplace on the web there is a pattern for a fly using blue chenille. I found it several years ago and tied up a couple of flies and used them to catch crappie. Unfortunately I can’t find that site or remember exactly the pattern, but as best as I can remember it called for long shank streamer hook, Say a #6, Mustad 9671,
A body of light blue chenille, a large hackle of light brown or tan, swept back and a head of yellow chenille.
Maybe the colors of the head and body were reversed. I just don’t remember. I know this isn’t much, but I do remember catching crappie on it.

Panman,
Swept back like the Wooly Bugger?
How about a Blue W.Bugger? Has any one used one in Blue?
Hi EPuffer,
In his book “Flyfishing for Smallmouth Bass,”
Harry Murray includes this pattern for the JamesWood Bucktail:
Hook: Mustad 94840 or 3906 sz 2 and 4
Thread: black 3/0
Wing: fine white bucktail
Rear Body: yellow medium chenille
Forward body: blue medium chenille
This fly does work. I also have read numerous articles about the effectiveness of blue especially on trout and bass. I am sure that you have seen the commercial trout eggs used by the “other fishermen” that are blue. I also am seeing that the brassie wire now includes a dark blue. Good luck and don’t be afraid to experiment. That is what flytying is all about.
E Puffer: I think that Gerri has it. Go to Google images and type in “James Wood Bucktail” and you should find a picture of it.

Found it under Google Images. Think I will have to tie two up.
Thanks!
That would work fine for a crayfish pattern
