Chase's B-2 Stealth Bomber SBS

A Catskill stonefly/attractor from Phil Chase. In honor of Punxsutawney Phil, albeit 3 weeks early.

hook - Dai Riki 280 #8
thread - MFC 6/0 hot orange
abdomen - woodchuck underfur (in spun loop)
wing - woodchuck guard hairs
hackle - brown/grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, wrap back to point above barb; double over to create loop (in smaller sizes I’d just use split-thread)

insert underfur into the loop, spin (2 blips with the baby formula twister), wrap

clean (this is where I got the underfur from), stack, measure (tips to bend) a clump of woodchuck guard hairs; tie in, trim butts (brush on some Sally to lock the wing in and cover with thread)

Part 2

divide the wing, lock with some x-wraps

tie in hackles

wrap, tie off, trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Regards,
Scott

That’s a very buggy fly!

That is a very nice fly and tie job, I appreciate your sharing, got to try it,
