Cedar Creek Lighted Docks Tonight

We are headed out, wind be damned, and toss flies into the lights off of these docks.

Will we find gar, sandies, yellow bass, wipers, buffalo, LMB? Stay tuned and find out when I get up tomorrow and get around to posting it.

Sounds exciting! Good luck, and I look forward to your report!

Go get em Robin. I wish I could join you.

Hi Robin,

I hope you do well, and am looking forward to your report.

Regards,

Gandolf

We got to the lake around 7:00 or so and started fishing riprap and then back up the canals with the big houses and boats. Despite looking fishy as all get-out we came up skunked.

Then it got dark and we hit the docks.

This guy was my first and biggest fish; he really battled on a six weight, no record book stuff but nonetheless a great fight!

After that the wind picked up which made holding position and casting problematic. We did get into some decent sand bass as well as some yellow bass but no real rodeo like we’ve hit before. I think it might be getting too hot but I am hopefully wrong about that.

The gar were the most exciting! Lurking under spotlights, they followed surface flies but that night they were not interested enough to really go after it. My buddy Christian says that some nights they get extremely aggressive and put on a display if you can hook one. We didn’t use gar-specific flies since the whites and yellows were hitting the fly as well which made it all the more interesting.

Sorry I didn’t get any more images than those. I get excited when I start fishing and forget to wear my photo documentarian hat.
