I fish lakes most of the times.
In one of my favorite lakes, my favorite area requires wading for 20-30 minutes, so I tend to stay there for hours.
I’m sometimes wading up to my chest.
I have never been able to take my food with me, it would be nice to have hot coffee and some sandwitches.
I don’t know if a chestpack would do, I haven’t tried it, but I also use a fishing vest so it sounds awkward.
I have a waterproof fanny pack. I keep food in that. I don’t drink coffee, however, because then I’ll have to, well you know. Besides, I want to stay
hydrated, so I stick with water.

Hello Thorarinn, if you mean you have to wade for 20-30 mins to get to where you’ll be fishing for hours, would putting lunch items in something that floats, then just drag it along while you wade. Duck hunters have all kinds of ways besides a boat for doing just what you’re talking about. You could even carry a small cooler that floats with eats and coffee then put it in a plastic bag, twist tie the bag closed and it would be easy to ‘float along’ to where you’re going. Hope this helps and if not, others will prolly chime in with ideas.
One of those small thermos-like bottles you see for sale everywhere.
Put that in the back of your vest along with a couple of sandwiches in double ziploc bags.
Should be fine. Just toss an apple in also. Don’t believe a little water will damage that.
gotta say…make sure that water your wading in doesn’t carry nasty stuff. a little giardia wash on that apple could ruin your whole week. Don’t know if that is an issue in Iceland or not
I seen a cool cooler shaped and colored to look like a bobber. I was thinking of getting for the pool so I would not have to get out of the pool for a drink. Don’t think it would work very well for wadding a river or stream but might be just the ticket for wadding a lake.
Yeah, I’ve seen that cooler too… they sell it at a hardware store in Mio Michigan. LOL…
For what you’re trying to do, I’d use a dry bag. You can get them at places that sell gear for paddlers (canoe/kayak). They come in different sizes…some with staps, some without. You need to figure out how much space you need and how you want to be able to carry it. The options are endless.
These are just examples of many that are out there… http://cascadedesigns.com/SealLine
