Had my first carp on the fly experience this morning… was out float tubing in a local lake for panfish when i saw a carp tailing and making a bunch of noise in some shallow water. Just for giggles i tied on a small black wooly bugger and casted to it. WHAM… I had the craziest 10 minutes my 4wt rod has ever seen before he broke off… I am planning to go after them again with some heavier tackle. Anyone with flies they like, rig set-up, or casting methods they use to regularly hook up with them?? Thanks, I can’t wait to figure this out after my incident this morning…
I think your question belongs here, but I think you will find some answers here.

BTW, some say that black wolly buggers are all you need for Carp. You seem to have good instincts for the fish
I like small crawfish patterns, but the bugger is hard to beat.
There is a good book called “Carp on the Fly” by Barry Reynolds that is WELL worth the read.
Thanks…I should have checked the other forum first…great info, I am ready to give it a whirl…
