Was wondering if someone would be so kind as to tell me of a few small streams holding populations of carp in Lancaster County, Pa.? Caught my first carp on the fly rod this past summer and wanted to pursue fishing them in small streams in my area. Thank you in advance for any help.
Since No one in your area seems willing to answer or atleast grunt LOL…I’d have to say…Just about any one you pick to fish…Greatest thing about Carp…They are a plenty !! and Just about any water you can find in PA will hold good carp numbers…Since I myself do not have a whole lot of experience down your way…Been well into your area a few times but seldom with any fishing gear handy…Most of the water I seen sure looked fishy to me…I can tell you , That it’s good to look for water with slow to moderate flows, That will offer you good oppertunities for sight fishing…Best and most productive FFing for Carp…MOST of the time…I have also done well in deeper pools just Trout fishing with Nymphs…they will readily take a well presented Dry as well…So about any water you find thats fishable for you, Will catch you a fish. Weather it be a carp or not !
“I’ve often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before” A.K.Best
Everyone wants to excel in this sport but at the same time we let traditionalists place restrictions on our tactics, methods, and ideas.
