Carnage Yellow Sally SBS

Just playing around with some ideas.

hook - Dai Riki 125 #16
thread - Danville 6/0 pale yellow
monocore/egg sac - Amnesia #15lb red
abdomen - 1mm foam yellow
wing - deer hair bleached
head - dubbing pale yellow
hackle - light ginger

Part 1

make a loop in one end of the mono

mash barb, start thread; tie in mono

tie in foam

hook the mono loop in the gallows, brush with a little Super Glue

wrap foam up, brush on a little more Super Glue, and wrap down; tie off/trim

trim mono, melt end with a lighter (if I had my UV Knotsense with me, I’d add a drop on the mono)

Part 2

clean, stack, measure (tips to sac) a sparse clump of deer hair; tie in/trim butts

tie in hackle

dub thread/dub head

wrap hackle, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

trim out hackle underneath

Scott, that looks good. Have you don’t something similar to match a Hex? Some kind of Carnage Hex?

Allen,

Not a Hex specifically, but in an early version I tied a Green Drake

It’d be simple enough to swap some materials and tie it as a Hex (I’d use mono instead of Uni-Stretch for the core).

Scott

Scott,

In these carnage flies, do you tie the mono loop (or the Uni-stretch loop) to a gallows tool?

Alberto

Alberto,

Step 4 in Part 1

It’s the same sequence no matter what the fly/core.

Scott
