Oh how I hate to write this post. I won’t be able to come to the fish-in. I’m not happy at all about that but a combination of health and money issues have conspired to make this trip impossible.
For those of you interested in details… health is all about a liver/intestinal problem that’s been persisting since February. I’m getting much better but that’s only since the past few days so the doc and I have agreed (he urged and I reluctantly agreed) that I keep close to home for a while yet.
Money is a major pain in the butt. Basically, a business stole about $750 from me. I paid for something, they took the money and then went bankrupt before delivering the service. The business is in California and I’m in NY. So far I’ve been in touch with the CA attorney general’s office, the FBI, and the person assigned by CA to the bankruptcy case. All doubt I’ll see my money again. Lovely. It would be one thing if I hadn’t researched the business but I’ve had a relationship with them for 3 years with no problems. :x
OK, so I hope those of you not interested in details ignored that. Short story… I’ll think of you out there in the Holy Waters and I hope those of you who fish any flies I sent along catch some wily and beautiful fish. Please take photos and post them to the board when you’re all home again.
Oh… one more thing. Tomorrow I’m calling the Gates Lodge to cancel my reservation. It’s from Tuesday through Saturday nights. If you know of anyone from the group hoping to stay there, let them know a room is opening up.
