Camel Dubbing

I recently acquired some Camel Dry Fly Dubbing from Jim Smith of Yorkshire Spider Flies ( [url=http://wetfly.co.uk/:675bc]http://wetfly.co.uk/[/url:675bc] ) waterhenbloa@yahoo.co.uk.
It is not treated in any way to make it float, so it could be use for nymphs as well.
It is finer than 'Possum
coarser than Mole (a bit)
and crinklier than Super Fine Dry fly dubbing.
I have it in 8 colours
Brown,Black, Olive, Dark Olive, Orange, Fiery Brown, Yellow and Green.
I have not tried dubbing it yet and I wondered if anyone else had used Camel at all.

Allan sent many of us Camel hair in its natural brown colour, I forgot I had it 'til this post, might dig it out. It is a nice coarse hair. A dubbing loop maybe.

I used a dubbing loop and made a type of hares ear nymph. Worked fairly well for warmwater fishing. I have also done wthis with llama.

Donald,
I have, and use sparingly, camel dubbing. It holds up well, is easy to use, and looks beautiful on the fly. I use it where mole would be used, or where something a “bit more textured” than fine and dry is called for. Great hand.
Also, thank you for the link to Yorkshire Spider Flies!! What a dandy site!! May not leave the computer all day!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

Years ago Orvis sold a Camel dubbing assortment box with maybe 10 colors which I use. Wapsi has an assortment now listed as a new product.
