Glacier Aspens and Cottonwoods on the Missouri are two of my favorites. Have to regroup after buying a Remington print (then matting and framing it), for my son for Christmas … THEN I’ll get a Dolack or two!!!
Don’t want to tempt you or anything, BUT through Christmas, you can get a book of Dolack’s artwork ( “Monte Dolack - The Works” ) plus a smaller limited edition Dolack print ( “View to the Scapegoat” ) for $50 shipped. The book is really nice, thumbed through it this morning for about half an hour, and usually goes for $39.95. The print is about 8"x 10" and usually goes for $50.
I have two, one in the computer room is looking toward the Mountains to the west from Billings and the other Flathead Lake and the cherry blossums…and I have the book as well. Neat stuff.
Thanks John, well we zeroed today but we sure had a great trip. Checked the confluence of the N & S Umps then went to a big bend upriver a ways…one other flyfisher there…all of us zeroed there…then up to the ‘Blue Heron’…i looked at a salty RR that sells for $550 but i don’t know…that’s a lot of reel for someone like me…will keep drooling on the glass each trip upriver though…in case Joe lowers the price some…well a lot some.
From there checked two more spots and the fog rolled in…left town in 55 degree partially sunny (the optimist in me) and no wind. Came home in a light drizz but still around 50 or so…went 59 here today.
Well, i can fish through the end of the year i suppose but it’s getting less and less ‘fishy’ up there…and i can tell it’s slow when i go to the confluence and i don’t see a hogline (anchored boats, smokin’ and jokin’, back bouncin’ gear and bait etc.)…if they’re not around, nothing is happening…the river is up and the winters are staged though, so can always downstream…got some great riffles and bars there (no John, gravel and sand, heh, heh)
Will likely fish Monday if’n it isn’t raining as i’m already invited to do so…gosh, what am i to do…just flyfisher up and go i suppose…oh well !
…i don’t care if i catch anything. I mean i do like it a lot when i do, but i figure if i catch something memorable like i did in October, then i’m most likely going to have to pay some dues i.e. a few thousand casts before i hook another one like the other one !
Wow, yeah it sure would be nice to be able to sit in the recliner and cast to those beauties…hmmm…wonder if that’s coming…i know Lotech places a chair in the river and casts to the rise ! Heh, heh…
