This weekend I discovered leaks in both feet of my waders and have come to the realization that I will probably have to purchase a new pair. I am not looking to drop a lot of cash for a new pair. The Cabelas RVG waders are in the price range I am willing to spend right now. What does everybody think of these waders. They seem to be a nice product for the price. But then again you get what you pay for and I don’t want them to fail in a couple years.
Try one of the sponsers here or give Kevin at South River Fly Shop a call. He is in Waynesboro Virginia
Check out LLBean. Lifetime satisfaction warrantee
Ditto that on LL Bean life time warranty ,no questions asked.
Lifetime warranty on $100 breathable waders? Yeah right.
I have a set of Cabelas Guide-Tech stockingfoot waders, which are about double the price of the RGV. They have a “fair is fair” warranty- meaning that if they develop leaks from a bad seam or whatever, they will replace the item. If you rip the crotch climbing over a barbed wire fence or grind through the soles because you’re wading without boots, then that’s your own dam’ fault. I respect that.
So far I am completely satisfied with them, and just about all the other Cabelas gear I have. I’ve had only a very few product issues over the decades and they were always handled very well.
+1 for the ll Bean
I have the Cabelas Dry Plus G2 waders myself. Going on their 5th year and they developed their first tear 2 weekends ago. Nothing a little Aquaseal can’t fix though.
My wife has LL Bean waders and she loves them.
I don’t know if they are the same as the older Dry Plus waders but the price seems to indicate that. I bought a pair of the Dry Plus about 9-10 years ago. I’ve fallen into the river and into the brush on steep inclines. I sold them as used about 2 years ago to my neighbor, and they are still going strong. I now have a pair of the waist high tripple lined waders and I prefer the old Dry Plus.
I have an older pair (probably 5-6 years old) of Cabela’s Dry Plus waders that I’m looking to part with. These haven’t been used since I got a pair of Reddington CPX Zipper waders 3 years ago and have been stored in a closet. I looked to sell them last year and checked them for leaks, etc and found they were still in good condition. They are size Men’s Large If you are interested shoot me a PM and we can discuss a price. I don’t recall what I asked for them last year but I’ll make you a good offer as I really want them gone!

rvrwader,
I have been using the Cabella’s Guideteck for many years without a problem. Like someone mentioned Cabella’s stands behind their products and the customer service is great. Bean’s is also but I enjoy Cabella’s
Grandado
I have the breathable dry plus from Cabela’s and they are great. As mentioned Cabela’s stands behind their products.
Thanks for the input. I really like LL Bean and Cabellas but I will probably go with the Cabellas since we have one of their stores about 45 minutes from me. That way I can go check them out before buying them.
Well, sure! I paid $118 for mine on clearance. But you don’t even have to spend that…

Those are $79…yeah right…
And a lifetime warrantee to boot?

Yeah right…
OH!!! Forgot to add…free shipping too! With no minimum…don’t even have to spend gas to drive…yeah, right…
Hmmm…
You need to call LL Bean customer service like I just did to get a grip. It is NOT a “LIFETIME” warranty, it is a “satisfaction” guarantee to protect against manufacturing defects. In the words of the very nice customer service rep I spoke with 2 minutes ago, “We would not be here next week if it was a lifetime warranty, and you would not believe how many people misunderstand that.”
Yes, I would believe.
Cabelas Dry Plus…got em…live in em…love em.

I’ve been using the Dry Plus waders for years. The first pair had a seam running up the inside of my legs and eventually wore out at the inside of my knees from those seams rubbing against each other. Their gravel guards were too tight for easy on and off and their belt loops were too tight to get the plastic belt budkle through easily. My second pair had all of those flaws fixed.

Wow…and the charitable words keep rolling. Gettting a grip would entail doing my research…which I did. Here, catch!

Etc.
And of course there was my original phone call where they re-emphasized their satisfaction guarantee.
Guess we just had different experiences…
I picked up a set of Cabela’s First Flight (boot foot) Waders in the middle of last season. They are comfortable, breathable, and easy to put on and take off. They look and feel well built. What else could you ask for?
From Bean’s website

Sounds like lifetime to me
All I can say is give them a call and ask about their warranty policy for waders. Specifically talk about waders, not the policy in general.
By your logic, all anyone would have to do is buy 2 sets of $79 waders (one in use and one as a spare) and keep sending them back FOREVER when they got a rip or hole or wore out. Like Nancy at customer service told me, they would go out of business quickly if that was true. Simms and everyone else would fold too, because who would pay $400-$700 for waders when they could spend $160 and never think about it again? Like she said, it does not cover rips, tears, holes, abuse, etc. If it is a manufacturing defect, it will present itself rather quickly such as poorly sealed seams or whatever.
I’m sure they probably replace far more torn waders than they should, just to keep customers coming back. Last year I went to a new LLBean retail store near Rochester, NY, and was shocked at the lack of fishing gear, and the complete absence of hunting gear other than boots and a little bit of clothing. It was basically an REI-- tons of “image wear”, camping stuff, canoes and kayaks, and bikes. I asked the manager about it, he said the company is moving away from the hunting equipment because they feel it keeps away certain segments of their customers. !!! This from a company which was founded on hunting gear. I like a lot of their clothing and one of my favorite fishing caps is LLBean, but that troubled me.
