I have been looking for a 4 wt blank with a slower action and based on the description this could be the ticket.
Also I am having a hard time telling if this blank is a dark green or if its glossy black. Looks to me like it is glossy dark green which is good, because i’m not looking for a glossy black blank. Unfortuntely the description doesnt say. Hard to tell on my computer screen, but in the tackle craft catalog it looks more green.
The rumor is that they are made by St. Croix. I have cast the 3 wt rod at Cabelas. It seemed like a decent medium-fast blank with a stiff butt and soft tip. The tip was a bit bouncy, but that may have been caused by the heavy-duty wire snakes.
If you want a slow action rod, then try the Batson Forecast 6.5’ 2 wt overlined with a WF4. It really should have been rated as a 3/4 wt. The lower modulus graphite makes it as tough as an Ugly Stick and smooth as butter. The 2-piece only costs about $20.
