I’m going to be in Burlington this coming Monday with nothing to do. I’m looking for info on trout in the area. I tried to book a guide but nobody had anything available last minute. Any help anybody could give me in regards to rivers and access would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.
The LaMoille and Winooski rivers are up in that area, as well as the Dog and Mad Rivers (both tribs of the Winooski). I’d probably try the LaMoille, first. It has a good amount of public access and it runs pretty close to the road. Get a hold of Bob Shannon, over at the Fly Rod Shop. He may not be able to guide you but he will give you some great info.
I just read something recently about musky being stocked in the Winooski delta.
It’s always been a hot spot for pike
Browns River comes off the backside of Mt Mansfield (Underhill) and is fairly close, but I too would choose the LaMoille, near Jeffersonville
Real nice river
Drink a Magic Hat #9 for me.
Got it. The Lamoille, and a Magic Hat #9. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help. I went to the Lamoille and actually found some fish.
You head to the mouth of the Winooski river by way of North Avenue ( easiest way to find it) . Just stay on No. Ave, you will run right smack into it. Go to the Aour boat rental and get a boat . Hang out at the mouth of the river or head up river. Thats about all that I can tell you. Grew up in the area ,great place to be a kid. The Aours boat place is still there although Charlie has been gone for a while now. You can pound a lot of different fish just by heading upstream. Wish I were going too. My brother clould guide us but that would cut into his fishing time and heaven forbid that happens!!!
Also, you can get into the river from a lot of locations , you just have to get a place to park. There are too many options for me to list. Heck , get a map!!! Im going into sugar rush and brain overload so I have to go beforeI hit overload. There are plenty of tackle shops that will get you pointed in the right direction .
Best wishes
