Like many of you I have fished frog imitations for years. But my bait casting counterparts arsenal of frog imitations have been constantly improving while my collection of frog poppers and sliders have for the most part stayed the same. Looking through what was available in preformed popper and slider bodies I knew that I if I wanted a slider head to look like a real frog I would have to make it myself. Here?s what I have come up with.
Wow… and to that I add… Wow.
I fear, between you and Jim Hatch, I’m convinced I need a dremel tool. And quite probably an “artist” to run it. 
Beautiful frog! I want one.

I was going "wow’ too and thought I’d try one…even happen to have some of those foam cylinders on hand…then I noticed his profession and suspect there is some extra talent involved.
lol… yeah - believe me - I noticed. But, I think I have it figured out. Just start with a foam cylinder and grind away everything that don’t look like a frog.
If you don’t know Fred, he is a realistic tyer and one of spectacular talent.
I carve foam almost every day and can’t imagine coming close to his frog.
I saw Fred’s tutorial on his website last year. Even though my bullfrogs weren’t anything near as nice, they did catch a lot of nice fish for me last year. The best part about this fly in my mind was that I could fish topwater any time of the day and expect to catch nice fish. I even had one fish come screaming over and smash the fly from over 10 feet away. Watching that v-line coming from so far away completely sold me on this fly.
It takes sometime to tie it but its well worth the effort.
