Buck Caddis SBS

Found this on the interweb; basic, few moving parts, easy to whip out in mass quantities. Although labeled a caddis, it’s pretty much a hackled, legless Madame X; lots of potential for modifications here.

hook -Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - UTC 140 burnt orange
tail - deer hair bleached
abdomen - tying thread
head/wing - deer hair bleached
hackle - grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a small clump of deer hair; tie in wrap butts back to 2/3 mark

clean, stack, measure (hook length +tail) a larger clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in at eye with tips facing forward, cover butts with thread

pull deer hair back/tie down

Part 2

tie in hackle

wrap hackle, trim, whip, SHHAN

abdomen - 1mm foam orange
head/wing - deer hair bleached
hackle - grizzly
