Oh where oh where did Brittney’s hair . . . Oh, nevermind. Here’s an “out of the box” swap for those who are willing to try something different: this starts by googling “mara-blonde” and following the links. This is a variation of a theme swap, and tyers may choose any color combinatin of the Mara Blonde, or better yet, any of the Erik Andreasson flies, he apparently being the “Tom Nixon” of Sweden. In fact, I’ll tie one of his other creations, the Wolleech. Tye nine flies to complete the swap and put 'em in the mail!

Flies are due by Tax Day, April 15. Send in crush proof container to John G. White, Box 672, Clara City, MN 56222 with return postage. Let’s have a “Swede” swap. JGW
ps: Special thanks to “cornmuse” on the Warmwater board for sparking the idea!
Great! We’re now up to five. One more and we’ll have an official swap. This has the potential to be a very fun swap and hopefully we’ll fill up soon. Google and join in the fun. JGW
You’re in. I think you’re right, that it has incredible possibilities. Remember, potential tyers, these don’t all have to be Para Blondes. Any of the Erik Andreasson flies are eligible, and found by Googling his name. JGW
Kahuna, we have our minimum of six, but I’ll keep it open until the 15th as “advertised.” Fills up sooner, cool. Stays the same, cool. Some are more inclined for a challenge and someting different than others. This is an unlikely swap for many on the board for it isn’t what you might call traditional. Thanks for playing. I’m really looking forward to seeing what shows up. Then again, as a swapmeister I usually am. JGW
I’ve got eight in the hole and will wait to see what develops. btw…I’ve cchanged from the baby brown I originally specified. the pattern was simply too busy for my eye.
Well, you said any color combo, so you asked for it!
I’m doing mine in Black over Chartruese, with the addition of a junglecock eye. They look great. I’ll try to post pictures later.
At least down South, chatruese is sort of a ‘can’t fail’ color. If you’re not sure what to use, it’s always a good one to start with.
I tied one up to test this morning and took it to the spillway, and behind the Steam Plant on the Coosawattee River. The white bass tore this thing to pieces. All were in the 2 lb. range. I caught 6 in 25 minutes. At the steam plant, I caught several yellow bass, white bass, 2 LM bass and a catfish on this fly…all in 40 minutes…from THE BOAT RAMP! I also caught a weird looking fish that resembled a walleye or perch. My nieghbor said it was a sauger, which I didn’t even know we had in the river. I think it’s going to work. Tomorrow, I’ll try it on trout on the Toccoa or Ocoee rivers. There are many large Browns there, as well as SM bass.
