Thread: Uni 8/0 to match dubbing
Eyes: Beadchain
Tail: Bottom half of hen feather
Body: Brown rabbit dubbing, Spirit River Depth Advantage dubbing, Lite Brite or Wapsi Super Brite Steelhead dubbing
Hackle: Front half of hen feather, speckled brown or Whiting black lace hackle
Its some old hen feathers from a cape that my wife’s cat got a hold of some while back. I found it the other day. Marabou part for tail and body, the webby feathers for the “wing” behind the bead chain eyes.
Of course it can be spiced up with more materials but I was playing “what can I do with this old bag of feathers?”
Thanks Robert - it’s funny about flies. One angler can clean up with a pattern and then the next person strikes out. There are too many variables for me to essay an opinion on why that is!
Maybe move your tongue to the other side of your mouth
I did a Google search trying to find a step-by-step and found one using a pheasant feather… very cool-looking fly!
