Briar Creek Wet

A personal favorite. Named for the brook trout stream I grew up along.

Red Tippet
Gold Tinsel
Hares-Ear Haretron
Light Dun Brahma
Mallard Wing

NJTroutbum:

That is a fine looking Wet Fly Pattern, I am coping it and transferring to my pattern library in my fly shop (furnace room) computer.

Ron

Steve, thanks much!

PAlongbow…yes you do. From Johnsons down to the old water dam:^)

Very nice! I’ve gotta tie a few of those up…

Nice looking fly. Thanks for sharing. Question: What is your favorite size for this fly?

Thanks

Panman

Man that is a sweet looking wet fly indeed. I may have to tie some of these before our trout season closes this year.

Thanks for posting.

Panman, I tie it in #12-14.

Also, I like to keep the Brahma hackle even with or slightly shorter than the tail. A little longer than many wets, but it works well on this pattern.

OK…courtesy of the track delay at Daytona…I got to thinking about what the Briar Creek would look like tied as a Low Water Steelhead pattern? Having not had the opportunity to fish for West Coast Steelhead for about 10 years now, I seldom tie them. So…in the name of experimentation…here it is. Maybe somebody out there can give it a ride on their home waters;)
