The fly is a sz. 14 H.W. Rio Grande King. The bowl of flies was a gift to my fishing buddy Al. Al’s a newbee, and goes through flies faster than I can get then out of my box.
This bunch of H.W’s is slightly modified in that I took the normal position of the Golden Pheasant tail and stuck it under the wing. I change the fly around from time to time to suit my whim.
Here’s the pattern:
Hook:2x lg. standard weight and bend (I use mustad 9671)
Black thread
Gold tinsel tag
Tail or underwing: Gold pheasant tippet
Body: black (tyers option here. I use black poly- pro.)
Wing: white calf tail laid downwing
Hackle: brown

I was wondering if I could get you to fix a little breakfast for me. I’d like a bowl of Parachute Adams size #18, a couple dozen dozen Grifth Gnats over easy and a tall stack of EHCs on the darkish side. Also a big glass of Partridge and Orange size #14 would be nice. Seriously. nice tying and a cute photo! 8T
