braided loop

the first thin gi do when i get a fly line or have to cut the end off is attach a loop with 10LB mono at the end with a nail knot. I have a hard time tying knots with mono, so i thought i might try to make the loop out of 65 LB PP braid. Would this work or would it be too slick to grab the fly line coating?

Yes, power pro. I use it for my spinning and baitcasting gear. I love it. But what is a furled leader and how do I make one out of power pro?

Well if your leader is that strong, then wont your fly line break first? I was always told to make the leader weaker than the fly line

The furled leaders I use still require a tippet to the fly (there is your breaking point). As far as attaching mono to you fly line, maybe try an Albright Knot. Understand one thing, not all super glues are water proof. Zap A Gap is.

I have a little trouble with even the albrigt. Besides, my goal is to have a perfection loop at the end of even leader, preties with flies, so i can just swap on leaders quickly and without having to cut line. Is there a way to remove the fly line coating? I heard somewehere to use acetone but it didtnt work.

I am talking about using an Albright for a butt section to fly line, then a perfection loop on the other end (I am talking about a 4" to 6" butt section which I use amnesia)

Anthony…
Your on the right track. I use 40 Lb Power Pro for my nail knots while forming loops in fly lines. When pulled up tight it almost looks like they have turned liquid. Instead using the braided loops sold, it is better to form a loop by folding over the fly line and tying two 8 turn nail knots on the loop. You will find that you can easily control the size of the loop in the fly line by sliding the first nail knot before it has been tightened to the desired size loop. I make mine about 3/16" in diameter. You don?t even have to coat the nail knots with any adhesives as they bight into the fly line so well. I have never had a failure with this system and have taken Bonefish and Baby Tarpon with it.

For those of you that don’t want a bunch of knots to get hung up in the guides, I have also taken fly line, cut end at an angle, fold it over forming a small loop, then wrap Kevlar thread over ends like wrapping a rod guide. Zap-A-Gap it then coat with thin layer of knot sense to seal the end. Never broke on me yet.
