If you were to take a trip out to Bozeman the first week of April, where would you fish? A friend of mine is going and I told him he picked a terrible week due to spring runoff, he blamed his Mrs. for the decision. He wants to know what streams, if any, are worth the trouble. He is a cross-country runner who could probably withstand one heck of a hike, though I’m not sure if the Mrs. would be tagging along. I doubt it considering the toddler they will have in tow. It’s also worth mentioning that he’s not a stick waver. He fishes spinners with a spin rod almost exclusively. Thanks in advance.
That is before runoff, by several weeks. Insert name of river here. They should all fish well that time of year. Be advised that with decent weather every flyfisher in the world will be on the water around there.
As I recall, the Yellowstone river hits flood stage at Livingston, Montana about the 4th of July.
I sent you a pm. He’ll catch fish
It really is great! I absolutely love fishing the area streams around late march through late april. Early may is beginning of runoff.
I feel quite blessed to have the streams around bozeman at my fingertips.
