My wife just got back from a “Becoming an Outdoor Woman” workshop, and now she is an expert in all things camping, float tubing and dutch ovens in general. I’m glad to see her jump in, but now she wants to go through all of my equipment and “organize” it. The good part of that is a lot of my old worn out equipment will be replaced with new in the process. I will most likely have a lot of help when I start packing this week for the MO FishIn ![]()
I would highly recommend the BOW program if any of you or your spouses are slightly interested. Great instruction and a terrific experience.
I hope she’s coming to the MO fish-in with you. I’d love to hear, first hand, about her experience.
She won’t be able to make it this year.
The kids are in school, and we can’t both go. In fact, she agreed to go to the BOW workshop on the condition that I don’t miss out on the FishIn again this year.
She didn’t have much bad to say about the experience. The classes were infomative, and there was a wide range of women there (over 100). In fact, one of our local doctors was there for the 3rd year. She didn’t get into the flyfishing class this year, but did get to do float tubing, dutch oven cooking, family camping and orienteering for her main classes. There were something like 40 classes offered an everyone got to pick 4, so there will be a lot left for next year. And she will be returning. And there were lots of freebies for everyone. Melissa also won one of the big prizes, and came home with a new backpacking setup including a pack, tent, sleeping bag, pack stove, and cook kit. Her equipment is light years better than mine.
I had the fortune of being requested to assist Fly Fishing instruction at a BOW. It was a great weekend - especially when one gal caught a 5 1/2 lb LMB! ![]()
Now if I could just get back there and sneak into that private lake!
