got me a Lost Lakes U-tube at Bass Pro and I have thoroughly not been able to open the Boston valve in order to inflate it. The thing appears to have at least two sets of concentric openings. I am pretty sure that at least one of them pops open but I am afraid that I am going to bust something if I force the wrong part.
So far Bass Pro has not responded to my requests for customer assistance so I am hoping that someone with float tube experience can advise as to how to open this valve properly.
The boston valve on my Creek Company U tube has two caps one on top of the other. Both of them unscrew. The top one is where you insert the hose from the pump. The other unscrews for fast deflation. Could it be that yours unscrew as well? If that doesn’t work, what about contacting the manufacturer?
they did not appear to be amenable to being unscrewed but I may just need to try again. I was admittedly in a hurry, did not want my wife to catch me piddling with fishing stuff when I was supposed to be working
Bring a net, a patch kit, and a PFD. The floatation device is required in Wis. The net’s a very good idea as it can go a long way to help you from getting torpedoed by vengeful fish with large hairbug hooks protruding from thier jaws. A patch kit can save the day when you go on one of those “way back and beyond” outings and wind up with a leak just when you find out where thier hiding. There’s some very compact portable battery operated pumps out there too.
