Hi there,

I’m after a book on tying Streamers and Salmon flies, have you got any suggestions folks?

Cheers

Two good one’s are-

“Streamers and Bucktail’s, The Big Fish Flies” By Joseph D. Bates Jr. This is a rewrite of his first book on the subject and a good one. He also has a couple of books on Salmon Flies. One being “Atlantic Salmon Flies and Fishing” One of the best ever writen on the subject. Both by Stackpole Books

Another good one on streamers is “Smelt Fly Patterns” Dressing-tying-fishing. By Donald A Wilson. Frank Amato Publication’s.

I could list a bunch of others for you that are good books for both Salmon Flies and Streamers. But I have to get to the doctors right now. I will check back and if someone else hasn’t given you more I will list some more for you. I have a bunch of them LOL. Ron

Gig,

I would second the recommendation for any of Joseph Bates Jr.'s books on streamer fishing. They are written in an easy-to-read, engaging style that is highly informative and very motivating about streamer fishing. His book on Salmon Flies is also quite good. Both are classics. 8T

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it’s a real short camping season.

If it’s not classics you’re after I highly reccomend Bob Linsenman and Kelly Galloup’s book “Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout”. It has great color plates and recipes for all sorts of productive patterns, and great tecniques for fishing streamers.
