Boo gaps and cracks

I am in the process of refinishing an old boo rod. There are some cracks and gaps, about an inch long, along some of the places where 2 strips of boo are joined. I tried some gentle probing, and these don’t appear to be delaminations, but I could be wrong. My question is, what do I do about these?

Thanks,

Bill

sounds like they’re glue lines.
not much you can do about them that I know of, but most of these guys ar emore knowledgeable than I.

Bill, Ive refinished 5 Boo rods now. Some have had what you describe. I took some epoxy and filled the gap then did some wraps over it. No problems yet.

bbrothe1, do the cracks/gaps seem to go all the way through to the center? I guess what I mean is are they half the diameter of that part of the blank?

I’m no boo builder but I’ve had some restored and had these issues.

MontanaMoose,
I’ve done a little poking around, and he cracks/gaps don’t seem to go all the way through to the center.

Thanks clyde, that’s what I was thinking. I may try to fill them with epoxy.

Bill

Ok bbrothel, that’s good news…but before I put expoxy in those gaps I think I’d ask here if I should do that or use actual ‘glue for boo’. You might be better off and there’s a specific way of doing the repair. I could be all wet though…it’s not easy to say without actually seeing the gap in the strips.

never did like epoxy.
Tight bond would work fine for this.
