Fly-Fishing for Smallmouth in Rivers and Streams
Bob Clouser with Jay Nichols
Just finished my first pass through this book. I would recommend it highly to anyone like me that is fairly new to chasing smallmouth with the fly rod. Well written, lots of good info on tactics, and techniques. The photos, especially of his flies, are fantastic. Some day I hope to book a trip with one of his guides on the Susquehanna.
I’ll second that, definitely required reading for folks wanting to chase smallies in movin’ water. The photo work is brilliant as well.
I keep picking it up and re-reading different sections. I learn something each time. Doing a little research on fishing with those guys, I have found that the Susky in their area has not recovered from the fish kills of the last few years. I’m not even sure he is booking clients right now. I hope things improve for the river, and for Mr. Clouser.
I agree, Bob’s book is great, the photography is first rate.
I actually met Bob this weekend at Bass Pro, he was kind enough to sign my copy.
As an added bonus, picked up some great tips for tying his flies.
Me like color photos. I even lucked into an autographed copy. 8T
