Surface skimming top (or “bob”) fly, in the Irish lough tradition.
I am optimistic it may work (still to be proven) as a wet to chase SRC (See Run Cutthroat).

That is not how it works on the loughs. These patterns skim/bob the waves, and bring up browns - they generally do not imitate any specific bug.
Interesting. So why would the “browns” come up to it? Normally, we think of flies as representing some sort of food item imitation on this side of the “pond”. We do use “attractor flies”, but these too often represent some sort of food item…The Renegade comes to mind. Many argue it somehow imitates a caddis…and the Rpyal Wulff also thought by many to represent a Caddis…
