OK, I just received my last set of flies from the bluegill swap #2. There was enough interest in it to do another one, so here we go. The only thing I would request initially is that the guys in the last swap wait a day to give some new guys a chance to enter this one. Open for 10 tyers plus myself. Everyone submits 10 of their favorite bluegill flies with toetags, crush proof packaging, and postage to me by March 24.
I was in the last one; would like to get in this one. If you fill up fast and someone else wants to participate give them my spot. I’ll tie a small slider if you have room.
Hook: size 10 Aberdeen
Head: foam head, finished with 5min.epoxy and Sally hansen’s hard as nails
Tail: brown marabou with copper flash
Body: mixed dubbing
Hackle: brown barred hen feather
Thanks,
Greg Qualls

I would like to submit for your consideration my red butt, beadhead, peacock herl, soft hackle collar, ribbed nymph. it doesn’t have a pattern name that I know of. It’s kind of a wooly worm, prince nymph combo.
Or the “Caterpillar” your choice.
“Illegitimus nil Carborundum”

I’ve sent info to everyone but ridgeliner. No e-mail address is listed on your profile, so I need contact info for you. Get with me so I can get you my address.
What is the best way to identify one flies?I’ve participated in a few swaps and was wondering what other peoples experience is. Post the recipe here after submitting? Bz. card size card with recipe and tyers E-mail address with flies taped to card? I mail mine in a VHS tape box in a padded envelope any better suggestions? I hope it is OK to post these questions here.
Not a problem. It seems from my experience, most guys are just toetagging with their handle and the fly name. I would say that is the bare minimum. I personally like to post a pattern on the thread, so it can be referenced later if need be. I print my toetags out on my printer and cut them as small as I can. Then I just poke the hook through the paper and they are ready to go.
A lot of the tyers tend to use altoids boxes for shipping, and things get cramped in the larger swaps sometimes. Your VHS box and a padded envelope is a fine method. Lots of room, media mail rate. I’ve seen VHS, audio cassette boxes, small fly boxes, small cardboard boxes, and lots of altoids cans. Anything goes.
