No. The pattern calls for the a plastic dumb bell eye. You can purchase time in various sizes or make your own by melting the ends of monofilament. Untreated, it floats on the surface for a short time and then submerges just under the surface. I have caught fish in both instances. I strip it very slowly. By the way, I used a popper for a while the other day with no results. I tied on a Wiggler and got a hit the first try. By the way, I put a UV coating on the shellback.
Thanks, @jcampbell , that Panfish Wiggler looks good!
Any idea how much it weighed?
No. Depends on the hook I guess. I use a dry fly hook TMC 100 in sizes 12-14. I add no weight. I tied one on #10 and caught a small bass the other day. I guess you could go much larger for large mouth. Fantastic little fly!
Oh, I guess you were referring to the fish. I would guess 12 ounces. Larger than my hand and I have big hands
Nice! You need a fighting chair for those, LOL.
Briminator… It is buggy and has a short tail. My go to BG fly. Tie it in any size you want. I like a #10
