Went out this morning on a local lake. The 'gills were just starting to cruise the shallows. We got about a dozen fish for a good lunch and about 25 smaller ones were released. We didnt catch any really big ones. The biggest one was eight inches. I caught them on boa leeches, yellow, black, and white. Also caught a few on GRHE. Early in the morning they were jumping way out of the water for gurgle pops and foam spiders. THe only fly that i tried and didnt catch anything on was a marabou leech. I think it sunk to fast and most of the fish hit on the drop.
I love when they come clean out of the water for a popper or spider. Startles me everytime. Nice job, i could catch gills all day and the fact they taste awesome makes em that much better.
