That RS-2 will do well, I like to use Medium-dun CDC for the wing here in the NW.
Wow Byron all that talent stuck there in paradise. At least you have some Guinness to choke down all that great weather and the beaches et al.
Are there any waters outside of the obvious that are fishable in Hawaii? I wonder that every time I read one of your posts.

Hey Sean! Yes, there are reservoirs with peacock bass. However, I don’t enjoy fishing reservoirs. There is ONE little trout stream up in the Kokee Canyon (sort of like a small Grand Canyon). However, it is a little stream completely overgrown in brush, etc. Sort of only fishable with a spinner (which I choose not to use). So, it’s off to the mainland a couple times a year for a few weeks each trip. I will be going to fish the Henry’s Fork again in early July - my usual place to fish.

Funny that somebody said they were an RS-2. I brought them out west, and a guide wanted me to use them with some lead at the tippet knot.

Those RS2’s, with a Pearl, Mercury or Diamond bead have tagged a bunch of nice fish for me…and I fish 'em deep all the way to the top of the water column…

RS2 Site:
RS2’s are tied differntly in different parts of the country. I belive the traditional RS2 has a very short wing. I have seen them with long wings like a caddis or medium wings. I have seen many different types of wing material from CDC to antron, I have also seen them with bead heads. Some people fish them like a dry while others drag them along the bottom or somewhere inbetween. I personally like the short wing ones and I fish them as an emerger.

Very nice RS2’s. I’m familiar with them. Mine is a dry fly. Has a tail and hackled head. The CDC is only to represent a swept back wing.

I much prefer bass, but I do torment the occaisonal trout here and there when I get too lazy to fish for bass.
Peacocks have always been a dream fish of mine.
Strong, agressive, beautiful. They occupy a spot in the fly fishing world ahead of bonefish and tarpon in my ‘things I really want to catch’ on a fly rod list. To be able to chase this fish in a tropical paradise would be a once in a lifetime achievement for me.
Just goes to show that one man’s dream is another man’s day to day world.
