Black Hills Trout in July

Hey everybody…I’m going to tread the waters of the Black Hills in July for the first time (normally I go out in September).

Any suggestions on patterns or areas that I should try that might be helpful?

Hey there, Gotta…
I’d saved your question till last of my reading, and I’m glad I did, because what started out with a smile, broke to tears. Black Hills fishing, any time, is fantastic. The flys you use in September will work in July. Use tiny flies. WD 40’s, Barr Emergers,…the little stuff. You’ll have great results.
Why the tears? Our wonderful Al is totally healed, and fishing the beautiful streams of Heaven. We miss him terribly.

I haven’t been on the board for a while and hadn’t heard - I only knew that he was ailing.

Lucky for me to have met him at least once…there will never be another like him.

Thanks for the info…it will be hard to cast without thinking about him and knowing that he had fished the very same waters.

That’s a wonderful gesture…is there any way to still contribute?
