I finally viewed the Ford commercial. I saw absolutely nothing offensive in it. (That thread poofed.)
If I’m on the “heron” jury, those guys walk and the state is forced to compensate them for all fish lost to predation from the day the state owned hatchery installed netting.
When I watched the commercial, I did not see the car driving in the stream, along the stream or “through” the stream. I tried to watch very carefully. What I saw was a car driving across a stream.
I did not see any jerks, sways, dips or lunges to indicate they were on natural stream bed.
In central Texas where I used to live there were dozens of such stream crossings on PUBLIC thoroughfares. They are refereed to as low water crossings.
In normal stream flow, they are designed to allow 4-6 inches of water to flow across an “improved” stream bed. Concrete usually.
Many folks live on “the other side of the creek” and have to cross such places to get to work, town, school, etc.
If I’m a concerned parent in such a case, the realization that the Escape has a few extra inches of clearance beyond the average sub compact is comforting. Especially if I have teenagers.
Bring your gun to their place and you might wind up a few ounces heavier yourself.
Best,
Jim

I apologize if I was wrong. What I ‘thought’ I saw was a FORD SUV, at the very end of the ‘BOLD’ commercial, a mother and her daughter, after jumping off of a waterfall, get into the vehicle and drive across a stream. If this an accepted thing in our society, then I am incorrect. Driving ‘through’ and ‘across’ a stream are the same thing to me, but what do I know. I realize you are serious about this as am I. Perhaps I judged FORD too quickly and harshly. They did not respond to any of our contacts in any real way, just standard form letters.
For you Texas folks, we fought for a law a couple of years ago to prevent RV parties IN THE STREAMS. People were driving up and down the streams as if they were roads. The law was passed. The Ford ‘Bold’ commercial does not appear to have been filmed in Texas…and encouraging anyone to think that behavior is acceptable is wrong.
