Hey everyone. I’ve built a few rods over the years. However, this is my first attempt at making a birch bark rod grip. There are a couple of minor issues and some things I would do differently next time, but overall I think it turned out pretty good for my first effort. What do you think?
Birch bark with ebony and cocobolo accents.

Very nice, Royce ! I have 2 rods in the works, going with birchbark on the first for sure. It’ll be my first birch grip.
I harvested the bark myself from a storm downed tree. I have some very dark exotic hardwood for accents & winding check. Way to go setting the bar high…

The wood colors go great with the birch bark. And very nice transitions between the wood and the birch bark.
