Is Betty Hiner okay? I PMed her and left a post on here for her and she’s never responded. Please tell me she is fine.
Thanks,
Bruce
She’s fishing in Wyoming for two weeks with no internet
And she probably won’t give me a call!
She doesn’t call. She doesn’t write. It hurts. I just hurts…
Love ya Betty.
Ed
(I can see Betty’s reply now… “Oh Puh-leeze”)
She is in Wyoming doing what i wish i was doing.
That’s interesting…because I’m certain Betty would be the first so say there are no trouts in Wyoming.
Up around where Betty is at in the Bighorns sure beats most of the rest of the country. It’s as pretty as anything in Colorado, Montana, Idaho, or anyplace else I have been. Not too many people, either. Pretty easy to find a bit of water and not see another soul all day long.
I would bet she has wrangled permission to fish on some old boy’s land who would just as soon shoot you or me as let us fish, too.
Thanks. Just so I know she’s doing fine.
Bruce
And she didn’t take me with her. Now, I’m hurt.
I’m pretty sure Betty cancelled her trip to Wyoming and went to Minnesota to fish for bluegills instead.
TT
Thats what I would have done.
What are these 'bluegill" things everyone keeps talking about? I know what Cutthroats, Brookies, Rainbows, Browns, and Goldens are, as well as catfish and suckers, but what the heck are bluegills?
I heard she was fishing for salt water blue gills in the Black Hills because there are no trout there.
PS. Bluegills according to VEE are giggle fish. LMAO. Right Vickie?
KB,
Bluegill are what you go after when you know all there is to know about catching trout, lol.
TT
Boy can it get REAL DEEP here and DARN FAST!!!
Bryon, I think you are right. I’m beginning to think that bluegills are something you fish for when there isn’t a trout within 300 miles of your primary residence. I think a moment of silence for the poor souls who are forced to live so far from cool mountain streams packed with native brookies and 'bows is in order.
Kevin,
Consult the writings of a Mssr. Gierach for additional information on this fish. Apparently he has put in some amount of time in researching the phenomenon. It is my sincere hope that you are able to fill the void in your life left by your failure to become acquainted with Bluegill, salt water or otherwise, via fly rod.
Ed
Now is one of the best times to catch bluegills! It’s SOFT HACKLE TIME! Professers with a chartreuse body, brown chenille and partridge, hares ears, and a Cajun Coachman will get the job done famously.
You poor misdirected lad, Bluegill, also lumped into the category of Bream in the true South, are what you fish for when you want the most fight per pound and the best taste per morsel. Because the good Lord gave you such beautiful scenery and such fine weather, he limited the quantity and quality of Bluegill, Shellcrackers, Largemouth Bass you have ready access to with ease. In the spring, I drive over the Chattahoochee River with some pretty nice trout to get to my favorite bream lake. Then when it gets hot and float tubing down the Hooch in 50 degree water is pleasant, I go trout fishing.
