Betters' Other Fly SBS

Found this on the Eflytyer site. Not one that gets much attention; pretty vanilla pattern compared to some of his other stuff, like the Ausable Wulff or Bomber, but in these colors it would make a decent hecuba (fall drake). Pattern calls for barred dun variant, of which I have none; 2 feather combo will suffice.

hook - Dai Riki 320 #12
thread/rib - UTC 70 grey/brown
tail - woodchuck guard hairs
body - Australian possum
wing - Congo Hair cream
hackle - dun/grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread , wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a healthy clump of chuck hair; tie in/trim butts

tie in a hank of CH; x-wrap and post up

tie in hackles, shiny side out

dub thread, dub body; finish at base of wing

Part 2

wrap hackles down post; capture tips with thread, trim

half hitch x 2 at base of wing, SHHAN, trim wing
