Best Time of Day?

The best time to go fishing is when you can.
On the smal ponds there are always fish on the look out for food.
Don’t forget to fan cast over the area.
I get fish over the deeper water that are scattered out.
I think they are alone crusing for food.

Work around docks for both bluegill and bass, nearly any time of day. Docks provide permanent cover and shade all summer long. They make great ambush spots for bass too!

But look at the bright side…all that free milk!!

I’m usually on the water before daylight, waiting for it to get light enough to see what I’m doing. From then up to about 9:30 or 10:00 AM is the best fishing of the day. After that, it takes work and searching, because the fish scatter to different habitats, depending on species and preferences. Most head for deeper water, but not too far off. In streams, trout look for shade, protection and cooler water. After 10:00AM, try looking in deeper pools below fast water. Use nympths and wets. There is usually one more big feeding time in the shallows an hour or so before sundown, but it’s not as intense as morning.

I also fly fish at night for bass, carp, catfish and crappie.
