Best dry fly book? Best stillwater fly fishing book?

Hi.
I am going to get a couple of books for buddies for Christmas, but I don’t know exactly what to get other than a book about dry fly fishing for one, and a book about lake fishing for the other. What, in your opinions, are the best of both categories?

Thanks very much.

‘TROUT’ by Bergman.

Mike Lawson’s “Spring Creeks” is an excellent book that would probably fill the bill on dry fly fishing, along with lots of other good stuff. Lawson is about as knowledgeable as they come, and the writing in this book is as good as it gets.

Re: Stillwaters…

No one answer…[you will get many opinions]

Consider:

Denny Rickards’ stuff…

Phil Rowley and Brian Chan stuff…

I second the Duck on this one. I focus more on stillwater, but I do fish rivers allot and DENNY’s books are awesome and the PATTERNS flat out work.

Believe it or not, I’m going to recommend The Dry Fly and Fast Water, by George M. L. LaBranche. The book is a classic.
